Title: Structural and adhesional properties of thin MoO3 films prepared by laser coating Keywords: laser, laser bonding, transition metal oxide, adhesion Abstract: Сome disadvantages of the usual laser marking technologies can be overcome by a new marking method known since 1997. This approach consists of local laser sintering of initially deposited proper powder material, which forms a layer with an assigned graphical and topological design under laser irradiation. They are known as intensive oxidants and they are used as anti-corrosion and ware-resistant coatings, as wells as they are effective catalysts. In our work MoO3 powder has been chosen as a typical transition metal oxide of the already mentioned kind. The mechanical analysis has been performed by micro-indentation, the structural analysis has been based on XRD, micro-Raman and SEM and micro-X-Ray. The present study provides detailed structural and chemichal analisys of MoO3 thin films and contributes to better understanding of the aadhesion, wear-resistance and hardness of coated layers under laser irradiation.
