Title: Communication performance of a recirculative omega high-speed system area network for HPC
Keywords: communication performance; OMNET++; parallel simulation mode

Abstract: As modern scientific and engineering computing matures, the demands for high-speed computational resources are growing at a rapid rate. The communication performance of system area network is a crucial factor influencing the parallel performance of computer clusters which form the prevailing architecture of modern high-performance computer systems. In this paper we suggest a high-speed switch architectural design and a relevant interconnect network of re-circulative omega topology to meet the demands of efficient and fast communication on high-performance computer clusters. The communication performance parameters such as network latency and throughput are evaluated on the basis of parallel simulation models using the network simulator OMNET++ (C++, MPI) and run on IBM HS22 Blade Center. Analysis of simulation results has been performed and presented considering the impact of the traffic pattern and the flit size on the communication efficiency of the interconnection network.
