Abstract: This article presents DC electric arc discharge acoustic spectrum analysis by a computer measuring system. The main electric and acoustic parameters of the electric discharge process are measured and estimated by a dedicated LabVIEW virtual instrument, combining all needed dynamic and steady-state characteristics, which are simultaneously acquired in real time. Electric arc current and voltage are directly measured and further used for electric arc dynamic power and conductivity estimation. Acoustic signal is measured independently at the discharge glowing time. Electric power is compared with the sound spectrum acoustic power, providing an indirect relation between electric and acoustic impact of the discharge over the outer environment. Acoustic signal is decomposed on a time-to-frequency spectrogram plot, where main sound sources are identified.
