Title: Literature review on FPGA-based e-learning: power consumption design methodologies perspective Keywords: e-learning, e-courses, FPGA, power consumption Abstract: This article gives an overview of the most significant e-learning infrastructures based on FPGA devices regarding the power consumption approaches, models, and tools developed so far. Special attention is given to the identification of key features and characteristics related to the e-learning models and how these can help to create and implement models for collaborative learning, especially for FPGA-based platforms. This work presents how the FPGAs in collaboration with web technologies can help to develop better online learning approaches, especially where the hardware is needed for the practical and experimental parts of the courses. Furthermore, with the need for the development of the fourth generation of e-learning (E-learning 4.0), new solutions to support the personal learning environment will become a necessity for supporting FPGA-based learning in digital electronic design courses.
