Abstract: Women represent a large pool of entrepreneurial potential in Europe. Studies show that when establishing and running a business, women face more difficulties than men, mainly in access to finance, training, networking, and in reconciling business and family (EU Commission, 2013). The EU Entrepreneurship 2020 action plan’s accent on the better use of ICT can significantly help new businesses to thrive, including women’s entrepreneurship. As indicated in the Commission Industrial Policy Communication, “entrepreneurs need to exploit the full potential of the digital single market in the EU that is expected to grow by 10% a year up to 2016”. Because the ICT sector is fast-paced and dynamic, the skills of the ICT workforce also need to keep up with the pace of change.
