Abstract: A discussion about control and compensation of reactive power of road tunnels with perspective of supplying electricity by a PV installation is presented in this paper. Road tunnels are a significant part of road infrastructure and a significant power consumer. As modern lighting installation is primarily comprised of LED's, which operate with a non-linear V-A characteristic, a proper control of reactive power is mandatory.
