Абстракт: The aim of this paper is to analyze the results of a survey among employer organisations of the practical aspects of the Human Resources selection and development processes. The report clarifies the employers’ requirements of the work competences of the candidates in order to increase their competitiveness for employment. Some recommendations are given to the job applicants how to prepare effectively their application documents and what are the most wanted competences for a future career success. The report shows the most common mistakes and deficiencies in the application documents and in the candidates’ behaviour, bringing the gap between the expectations of the employers and the young people, who are looking for their first job or internship. The employer organisations are also evaluated according to the development programmes and the career opportunities they provide for the employees.
