Title: An In-Depth Measurement of the Influence of System Parameters on Accuracy of Two-Way Ranging with Uwb Radio Keywords: Indoor positioning and localization, Preamble Length (PL), pulse repetition frequency (PRF), Two-Way Ranging (TWR), Ultra-Wideband (UWB)Abstract: Ultra-wideband is a technology designed for precise indoor positioning. The study investigates the influence of system parameters, clock source, and pulse repetition frequency (PRF) on the accuracy and precision of UWB-based two-way ranging. A test setup was used with DWM1000 modules, an anchor, and a tag to measure distances under various parameter permutations. Results show that systems using longer preamble codes for precise synchronisation consistently outperform those using shorter ones, specifically at distances greater than 4 meters. Additionally, a higher PRF (64 MHz) provides superior measurement consistency and lower mean absolute error than a PRF of 16 MHz. These findings highlight the critical impact of hardware configuration on UWB localisation accuracy and provide practical insights for optimising system design in real-world environments.
