Title: An Approach to the Design of Telemetry Applications in Future Railway Communications
Keywords: Future Railway Mobile Communication System, railway infrastructure monitoring and control, RESTful applications

Abstract: As one of the most sustainable means of transportation, rails are essential to improve our living environment. Railways bring environmental benefits related to minimization of carbon emissions, improvements in energy efficiency, and congestion reduction. In the context of environmental impact, there exist many challenges related to the reduction of noise and vibration generated by trains and rail tracks. Real-Time telemetry plays an important role in inspection, monitoring, maintenance, and risk management of the railway critical and noncritical infrastructure. Reliable, safe and secured connectivity is of pivotal importance. Future Railway Mobile Communication System is defined as an international standard aiming to accelerate the railway digital transformation. As far as the FRMCS standardization work is still ongoing, in this paper an approach to the design of FRMCS applications for real-Time monitoring and control is proposed.
