Abstract: In this work, a comparative analysis between scalar and vector approaches for controlling an induction electric motor is realized. Some static characteristics of the motor are considered such as the overload capacity is compared under frequency control and vector control with rotor flux linkage orientation without exceeding the current and voltage specified for the motor. Various vector diagrams at different loads are considered in order to assist in the design of the induction motor control. The control algorithms are implemented in the MATLAB/Simulink programming environment.
