Title: Sustainability in digital knitwear design: Exploring software solutions in the industry
Keywords:

Abstract: This paper explores the role of advanced software systems in promoting sustainability within digital knitwear design and production. Focusing on two industry leaders - Shima Seiki and Karl Mayer Stoll - it presents a comparative analysis of their software, SDS-ONE APEX and Create Plus. The study first outlines the structure and functionality of each solution, examining them as integrated systems composed of specialised modules. Their performance is then evaluated across key sustainability criteria, including waste reduction, resource optimisation, and traceability. Findings show that both systems support sustainable practices: Shima Seiki excels in design innovation, whereas Stoll emphasises production efficiency.
