Title: A Power Loss Analysis in the Bi-Directional Operation Mode of an Asymmetric Bridge Converter and (N+1)-Switch Converters for a Three-Phase SRM
Keywords: asymmetric bridge converters, generator mode, Miller converters, motor mode, switched reluctance motor

Abstract: The type of converter used to feed switched reluctance motors (SRMs) is essential to their operation. This paper presents an analysis and study of converters that feed SRMs in bidirectional operation, considering converter and motor power losses, efficiency, and torque ripple. A comparative analysis is performed on the asymmetric bridge converter, the modified (N+1)-switch converter, and the (N+1)-switch converter (Miller converter). Simulation and experimental results are based on an electric drive with a three-phase 12/8 SRM (H55PWBKM-1844).
