Abstract: We have been fabricating of highly transparent ceramics with vacuume sitering method and nanocrystalline technology. Femtosceond ceramic lasers and highly efficient CW ceramic lasers were developed with Yb3+-doped ceramics. A CW 1030-nm Yb3+-doped Y2O3 ceramic laser was demonstrated with the extraction efficiency of 45%. A modelocked Yb3+-doped Y2O3 ceramic laser were demonstrated with a semiconductor saturable-absorber mirror. The modelocked laser generated 98 MHz and 430 fs pulses at 1037-nm wavelength. The average power of 210 mW, and the pulse energy of 2.1 nJ at a 2.6 W absorbed pump power.
